The Destination
Our destination, the Farley State Marina (also called Trump Marina)
is directly across the street from the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino, one
of Atlantic City's most popular resort destinations. The marina itself
is probably the nicest marina facility in all of New Jersey. It has
its own restaurants and bars. It has outside entertainment on weekends.
It has a pool and a store for marine supplies and gift items.
Your Saturday dinner will be on you, and there are many places to choose from. There is a modest priced cafe as well as a Hooters in the hotel. There is a reasonably priced buffet, and there are more lavish choices for those who feel inclined. The marina itself has a wonderful restaurant on the second floor that overlooks the marina and harbor. There is also a Tiki Bar and casual food restaurant at dock level.
Set off in a "Jitney"or cab to see the sights or visit the boardwalk.
For boat lovers, the marina is a paradise, with large and small vessels
of every description. The pool will be an attraction for some people
-- a chance to wash off the salt spray from the ocean. The casinos,
health club, and other hotel attractions are open to marina guests and
you may feel free to take full advantage. The new Borgata Hotel is
a short distance from your boat.
The Boat
Our catamaran for the trip is "Impulse", a 38' Fountaine Pajot.
This beautiful boat is much larger than the 38 feet would suggest.
It has four private staterooms and two bathrooms ("heads"), so an unusual
degree of privacy is available for a boat (maximum number of guests: six).
The salon and outside bridge deck are very roomy. There is a trampoline
forward for those who want to sunbathe. It is fully equipped with
all necessary Coast Guard specified safety equipment, and it has two diesel
engines for safety and convenience. When sailing, the catamaran whisks
you along with only the whisper of the boat cutting through the water,
accompanied by the sight and sound of gulls and even pelicans. Dolphins
are sighted on many of these trips down the coast and they may swim along
with us for miles, watching us, as we watch them.

Island Heights to Barnegat Light -- Day 1
This exciting mini-cruise will take you away for a weekend plus of
fun, sailing, and the luxurious good life of Atlantic City.
Start from Island Heights on the Toms River on Friday afternoon.
Round Good Luck Point (appropriately named for a start to an Atlantic City
weekend), and sail down the Barnegat Bay past the mainland-side towns of
Bayville, Forked River, and others. The western shoreline is only
partially developed. Green acres, marshland, and parkland are intermixed
with new and older housing sections. To your left will be the completely
pristine Island Beach State Park. In the distance, then closer and
closer, Barnegat Lighthouse marks your destination for the day. Pull
into the anchorage, almost in the shadow of the lighthouse, and drop the
hook in New Jersey's most scenic harbor. A pot-luck dinner on the
bridge deck followed by a (hoped-for) spectacular sunset are the order
of the day. Beverages of your choice (byob) or just coffee at twilight
will add to you enjoyment of this enchanted place. The calm waters
of the harbor will make for a restful night.
Barnegat Light to Atlantic City --Day 2
Up early, a satisfying breakfast, and we weigh anchor for our day's
trip to Atlantic City. Barnegat Inlet takes you out to our "sea voyage"
of 30-40 miles down the coast along Long Beach Island, then Brigantine.
Long stretches of sand dunes and naturual shoreline may make you think
you are in the Bahamas. We arrive in Atlantic City in the early-mid
afternoon and tie up at the Trump Marina (Farley State Marina). You have
the full facilities of the marina and hotel/casino at your disposal.
Dinner will be on you at any of the several restaurants.
Atlantic City to Island Heights -- Day 3
We cast off the dock lines and retrace our steps to Barnegat Inlet
and then cross the Barnegat Bay and return to our starting point.
The longish day on the water will give everyone a chance to rest up from
the merrimaking in port, the day before. Be sure to bring sun block, a
hat, and sun glasses. The sun's rays are strong out on the water.
You arrive in Island Height in the late part of the afternoon.
