Description:
The Cape Dory Typhoon (19') is one of the most popular of the smaller boats in the Nelson Sailing Center fleet.  The same qualities that account for that will make the new Cape Dory 25 a popular boat in the mid-sized category.  The 25 is a recent addition to our fleet which is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful (in our opinion) in the line-up.

The 25 is, importantly, a Cape Dory.  They were a legendary builder of serious keel boats, under the design leadership of Carl Alberg.  Like the Ensigns and the Bristols, the Cape Dories are a product of the New England tradition that produced boats that emphasized seaworthiness and sailing qualities over all else.  Narrow of beam, it is not meant for a crowd, but in medium and heavy air its heavy construction and full keel underbody reveal why those classic boats are so appreciated in this era of maxi-cube designs.  (We feel that the modern designs of the last decade have their place, too, but this boat is for the purist who might prefer a classic MG or Jaguar over a brand new SUV).

Recommended crew is two to four.  Modest accommodations for cruising.  The Cape Dory 25 will move well in light air, but this boat will make you smile when the wind is up.  If they write a song about the Cape Dories it might be named "Born to Heel".
